These activities are broad in scope
and should include the strengthening of our relations with the National Center for Complementary and
Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), CAM therapies careful evaluation and development
CAM accurate information to the public. One of the goals shared by NCI, NCCAM and other
Institutes is to create centers for the study of CAM, which will provide resources
need for a rigorous scientific study of approaches CAM, as well as specialized
Research Centers to study the biological effects of plant , including those
are available as nutritional supplements. Several studies are already under way CAM approaches. NCI - sponsored projects
recently suggested that vitamin E and selenium supplements may safely prevent the
prostate and other cancers. More investigation of these R & D and continues to support the
some research on the effectiveness of the prevention of prostate cancer by lycopene
and dietary soy, as well as vitamin E and selenium. To strengthen our partnership with the community to attract effective CAM
prevention and treatment strategies for patients with cancer, we have worked with NCCAM to set
federal chartered Cancer Advisory Group
(CAP-CAM). CAP-CAM corresponds to 2 to 3 times a year and draws its 15 members from a wide
range of experts from the conventional and CAM levaquin and side effects cancer research community. This group will be
review and evaluation summary of the evidence submitted by the cancer CAM approaches

practitioners, to make recommendations on how these assessments should be
to follow, and be available to monitor and advise on research supported by
NCCAM and NCI, and the communication of research results.
